Shellac can be applied in many different ways. With the growing demand for shellac, I decided to produce a video on the technique of French Polishing. Once shellac got introduced to the West by the British, it quickly caught on as a finish. French Polishing was soon invented and is till today the best way to apply shellac.
The second video is a condensed version of my trip to India to witness and document the origins and manufacture of shellac. I was frequently asked questions about how shellac is grown, harvested and manufactured. Explaining it in words was not enough for most of my students and customers. Hence I decided to go to India and document it. The video and photographs that you see in this video have appeared for the first time.
